On the morning of December 12, due to a disruption, Kyivstar users are experiencing a lack of mobile communication. Subscribers also cannot switch to another operator through national roaming.
The company states that the cause of the disruption is a powerful hacker attack. Users noticed in the morning that when trying to access the Kyivstar website, an error is displayed, and the page is not working.
Additionally, users have complained about the absence of mobile communication and the internet. It is also impossible to log in to the Kyivstar mobile application. During attempts to make calls, subscribers hear the response "mobile network unavailable."
Around 13:00, the operator's press service reported that a powerful hacker attack caused the massive disruption in operation.
"This morning, we became the target of a powerful hacker attack. It caused a technical failure, as a result of which mobile communication services and internet access are temporarily unavailable," the company stated on Facebook.
They also added that representatives of law enforcement agencies and special state services were involved to document the circumstances and consequences of the illegal interference in the network's operation. Specialists are working to eliminate the consequences for the prompt restoration of communication.
Kyivstar emphasized that, as of now, the personal data of subscribers has not been compromised. Furthermore, the mobile operator promises to provide compensation to subscribers who experienced a lack of communication or were unable to use their services.
Due to a malfunction in the operation of the Kyivstar operator, the notification system will temporarily not work in the territory of the Sumy city territorial community, according to a statement from the Sumy City Police Department. It was mentioned that while the mobile operator works on resolving technical issues, alerts will be announced by patrol police officers and the State Emergency Service.
