The American company Maxar Technologies, which had been providing satellite intelligence data to Ukraine, has suspended access to its imagery following an order from the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.

According to a statement from the company on the social media platform X, Maxar has contracts with the U.S. government and dozens of allied and partner countries worldwide for providing satellite imagery and other geospatial data. The company noted that each client independently decides how to use and share these data.

"One of those contracts is GEGD (the Global Enhanced GEOINT Delivery programme), a U.S. government programme that provides access to commercial satellite imagery that has been tasked and collected by the U.S. government. The U.S. government has temporarily suspended Ukrainian accounts in GEGD," the statement reads.

Maxar added that it takes its contractual obligations very seriously.

"We take our contractual commitments very seriously. There is no change to the way we support our other customers nor their programmes or contracts," the company emphasized.
