On Monday afternoon, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni held a phone conversation with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and other European leaders to discuss the upcoming meetings in Florida between the U.S. and Ukrainian delegations regarding the peace process.
“Prime Minister Meloni, together with other leaders, commented on the outcomes of this new stage of negotiations, emphasizing the consistently constructive approach of President Zelensky. She also reiterated the importance of aligning views between European partners and the United States as a foundation for achieving a fair and lasting peace,” the Italian government’s statement said.
According to Rome, ahead of the meetings between U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy and the Russian side, Meloni “expressed hope that Moscow, in turn, would make a concrete contribution to the negotiation process.”
