Moldova has begun active cooperation with Ukraine, Romania, and donor organizations to modernize its railway infrastructure and assist Ukraine in increasing its agricultural exports.

Vice Prime Minister of Moldova, Niku Popescu, stated, "From the first day of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, we have seen an acceleration in exports and imports to and from Ukraine. We see Ukraine putting in enormous efforts on the battlefield. But it is also important for Ukraine to sustain its economic livelihood and export potential."

He emphasized Moldova's understanding of the importance of Ukraine's grain exports. "Ukraine, Moldova, countries of the European Union, the Middle East, and African countries should not rely solely on the Black Sea export channel. We must ensure that there is a robust and developing infrastructure that will serve Ukraine's economic interests over the next 10-20 years, especially in the food market," he highlighted.

Popescu acknowledged that Moldova's infrastructure is "not so well developed." He reminded that the Moldovan government and the leadership of the Moldovan Railways are closely collaborating with the Ukrainian Railways to modernize Moldova's railway system.

In the next 10-20 years, efforts will be directed towards the improvement of railway infrastructure and tracks
