President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, initiates a referendum in the fall of 2024 on the country's accession to the European Union.
She announced this in a video address on the occasion of her three years in office.
In the video, Sandu reminded that the leaders of the European Union recently approved the decision to start negotiations on Moldova's integration. According to her, this is "what seemed impossible three years ago."
"We still have a lot to do. And most importantly, ensure peace and a better future for all families and children in Moldova. We have a guarantee of such a future only as a member state of the European Union," added the leader of Moldova.
Sandu called on the parliament to initiate the organization of a referendum in the fall of 2024, where the voice of the country's residents will be decisive.
In particular, she asked for support from the people regarding her candidacy in the upcoming elections next year, where she will participate to "complete the mission of European integration.
