The Russian invaders tried to carry out a classic landing operation to capture Odessa.

The idea of the enemies was this - there is a landing, and a ground grouping is moving, which was supposed to support the paratroopers from land, said Colonel of the Reserve of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - military expert Oleg Zhdanov.

"… And the idea was, yes, that first there is a landing, part of the forces are pulled onto it in order to drop it into the sea, and while the landing is fighting, the ground force makes its way to the place … landing and supports it from land. This is a classic landing operation … ", - said the expert.

The enemy, for two reasons, could not carry out a landing operation and capture Odessa from the sea and from land - the regional center was saved by the weather and the absence of the main forces of the invaders in the city area.

"… The Russian Federation landed troops (in the Odessa region). Remember, the first landing drowned because the water was cold, did not swim and … there was an anti-amphibious operation, carried out by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. And then the landing was complicated by the fact that there was a storm sea, and could not swim, just swim to the shore," said the colonel.

Zhdanov added that the defenders of Ukraine were preparing for an enemy landing in the Odessa region, which could be destroyed.

"… the most important thing that was calculated was that by the time the landing was made … look, the landing party was landing, seizing the bridgehead, starting to hold it on our coast and by this time, respectively, we should repel the landing operation, and by that time, from the other side, the main forces are approaching by a land corridor. But we stopped the main forces in the Voznesensk region," the expert explained.

According to him, "this did not give the Russian Federation the opportunity - the weather and the absence of the main enemy forces in the Odessa region did not make it possible to conduct a landing operation and comprehensively capture Odessa from two sides - from the sea and land, this what saved"

Recall that Russian troops invaded Ukraine early in the morning on February 24. Opponents shelled the Odessa region more than once, in particular, Odessa, there were victims. To protect the regional center from enemy landing, the beaches and part of the Black Sea were mined.
