On March 31, Ukraine switches to daylight saving time - at 3 a.m. local time, the clock hands are moved forward by 1 hour.
The transition to winter and summer time is carried out in accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 509 of May 13, 1996, "On the procedure for calculating time on the territory of Ukraine."
Annually, on the last Sunday of March at 3 a.m., the clock hands are moved forward by 1 hour, and on the last Sunday of October - at 4 a.m., they are moved back by 1 hour.
The time used in Ukraine in winter is natural for the territory of our country and corresponds to its geographical position, while from the last Sunday of March to the last Sunday of October, daylight saving time is introduced to effectively use the daylight hours.
The introduction of daylight saving time is a widely accepted international practice. In the European Union, Directive 2000/84/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of January 19, 2001, on the transition to summer time is in force, according to which the EU member states have established the procedure for calculating time: transition to summer time at the end of March and to winter time at the end of October.
