The issue of dismissal of 28 officials is being considered. Different levels, different directions. But the grounds are similar - unsatisfactory job performance.

Volodymyr Zelensky

As we reported earlier, on July 17, the president, by his decrees, removed Ivan Bakanov from his duties as head of the SBU, and also removed Irina Venediktova from the post of the Prosecutor General.

Subsequently, Zelensky explained his decision by the fact that due to the large number of traitors among the employees of the prosecutor's office and the SBU, who remained in the occupied territory and work for Russia, questions arose for the chairman of the SBU and the prosecutor general.

At the same time, today, July 18, Andrey Smirnov, deputy head of the President's Office, said there was no talk of dismissing Venediktova and Bakanov yet.

According to him, official checks will be carried out, according to the results of which the president will decide on submitting proposals to the parliament on granting consent to the dismissal of the prosecutor general and the head of the SBU.

According to Smirnov, Venediktova and Bakanov were removed to exclude their potential influence on criminal proceedings being investigated against SBU employees and prosecutors who are suspected of collaborating with Russia.

Later, the deputy Zheleznyak said that Zelensky submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a proposal to dismiss Bakanov. It is planned to be considered at the next plenary meeting.

Subsequently, the people's deputy added that the issue of removing Venediktova from the post of Prosecutor General would be submitted to the next vote in Verkhovna Rada.

In turn, Venediktova commented on her dismissal and announced her readiness to report to parliament. She stressed that she does not plan to argue with the president's decision.
