Despite promises, Poland has still not provided funds for the Czech initiative to purchase artillery shells worldwide for Ukraine.
According to Polish Gazeta Wyborcza, Poland is reportedly the only country among those that pledged to support the 'Czech Initiative' that has not yet provided any funding.
As of August, 18 countries have joined the Czech initiative to search for and procure ammunition for the Ukrainian Armed Forces outside the European Union.
The report highlights that Germany contributed the most funds and did so in the shortest time. However, Poland has yet to provide any funds despite its promise.
It is worth noting that in March, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski stated that Poland would double its contribution to the Czech initiative for purchasing artillery shells for Ukraine.
However, speaking to journalists at a press conference in Riga, Sikorski refused to disclose the exact amount of funding.
The Polish newspaper notes that if nothing unexpected happens, by September, the Czech Republic should be able to deliver about 100,000 shells to Ukraine as part of its initiative, moving closer to its goal of finding at least half a million large-caliber artillery shells for Ukraine by the end of the year.
