Poland wants to increase the number of American military personnel on its territory.
This was stated by the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, as reported by RMF FM.
It is reported that before leaving for a working visit to the United States on Monday, March 11, Duda held a meeting of the National Security Council.
During the meeting, the Polish president stated that Warsaw needs more American troops, more equipment for Ukraine, and guarantees that Trump's statements about NATO "are just empty words."
Currently, there are approximately 10,000 American troops stationed in Poland.
On Monday, March 11, the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, stated that NATO member countries should increase defense spending to at least 3% of GDP.
"I want to propose that NATO countries collectively decide that the alliance's requirement will be to spend not 2%, but 3% of GDP on defense," he said during a meeting of Poland's National Security Council.
According to him, this should be the threshold below which it is strongly not recommended to go.
He stated that NATO's response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine should be clear and bold. The publication specifies that Poland spends about 4% of GDP on strengthening its Armed Forces this year.
