A fence will be built on the border between Poland and the Kaliningrad region (Russian Federation)
This was stated by the Minister of National Defense of Poland Mariusz Blaszczak.
"I have decided to take measures to improve security on the border of Poland with the Kaliningrad region by closing this border. Therefore, work will begin today … on constructing a temporary fence on the border with the Kaliningrad region. We use the experience gained last year. There is no doubt that the temporary fence protected the Polish-Belarusian border. This made a hybrid attack from Belarusian territory impossible or significantly slowed it down," he said.
According to Blaszczak, the fence on the border with Russia will be the same as previously installed along the Polish-Belarusian border.
"The fence will consist of three rows of barbed wire, which is used by the military around the world. … This fence is two and a half meters high and three meters wide on the Polish side. We want the border to be tight. … At the same time, work will be carried out to install perimetry. These devices will allow electronic surveillance of the border with the Kaliningrad region," Blashchak added.
