Russia attacked Ukraine with Oniks and Kh-31P missiles and 96 UAVs — 42 drones were shot down

On the night of April 21, 2025 (at 2:00 a.m.), the Russian forces launched an attack on Kherson region with an Oniks anti-ship cruise missile from Crimea, and on Mykolaiv region with two Kh-31P anti-radar missiles from the airspace over the Black Sea. Russia also attacked Ukraine with 96 strike UAVs (drones simulating other types). Launch areas included Millerovo, Kursk, Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, and Hvardiiske in Crimea.

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare systems, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

As of 9:00 a.m., 42 Shahed-type strike UAVs (as well as drones of other types) were confirmed shot down over the east, north, south, and center of the country.

Also 47 decoy drones were lost from radar without causing any damage.

As a result of the attack, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Cherkasy regions suffered damage.
