Russian airlines have almost lost all contracts with UN peacekeeping and political missions.

This was reported by the Russian publication RBC.

According to Russian media reports, the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that the companies would leave the UN market in the first quarter of 2024.

The organization stopped entering into new contracts after the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) issued a "red flag" to Russia for double registration of aircraft.

"The problem of non-renewal of contracts for the provision of aviation equipment by Russian companies for the needs of the UN has a systemic nature. After the ICAO approved the decision on 'serious concern about flight safety' regarding Russia, the UN Secretariat, relying solely on its own interpretation of the SSC, restricted the participation of Russian companies in new tenders for the supply of aviation services in the interests of the global organization," explained Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova.
