During a nighttime attack on Odessa region, Russian kamikaze drones, Shahed, fell and exploded on Romanian territory.

Oleg Nikolenko, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reported this on the morning of September 4, citing information from Ukrainian border guards.

Last night, Russian kamikaze drones attacked the Israeli port in Odessa region. However, one or several Shahed drones exploded on Romanian territory after crashing.

The exact number of drones that fell in the neighboring country was not specified by the MFA spokesperson.

"This is another confirmation that Russian missile terrorism poses a huge threat not only to the security of Ukraine but also to the security of neighboring countries, including NATO member states," wrote Oleg Nikolenko on social media.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on its partners to expedite the provision of additional modern missile defense and air defense systems, as well as combat aircraft, to enhance the protection of Ukrainian infrastructure and the neighboring states.

The Ministry of National Defence of Romania has also commented on the situation.

The Ministry of National Defence firmly condemns the attacks targeting the Ukrainian sites and civilian infrastructure elements, considering them unjustified and breaking all international humanitarian rules.  The MoND responsible structures monitored, in real time, the situation generated by the Russian drone attacks conducted last night against the infrastructure of Reni Seaport. The drone attacks conducted by the Russian Federation did not pose any direct military threats against our national territory or Romania’s territorial waters.

The Ministry of National Defence of Romania continues to implement the enhanced vigilance measures in the ground, maritime and air space, as well as the measures designated to consolidate the defence and deterrence posture on the eastern flank, in accordance with the national and Allied plans.
