Russian troops are increasing combat activity in the Vovchansk direction and in the Sumy region.

This was reported by the spokesman of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, during a TV broadcast.

“Assault actions by the enemy are also ongoing in the Kupiansk direction, but the enemy is most active in the Vovchansk direction and within the Sumy region — particularly in the areas of the settlements Basivka and Zhuravka. Regarding Sumy region, the enemy continues to use the tactic of deploying small assault groups. This practice has been used by the Russians for a long time. Typically, such attempts are preceded by shelling aimed at destroying Ukrainian defenders’ positions. Then there are constant attempts to penetrate in order to accumulate forces and expand the zone of active hostilities on Ukrainian territory,” said Demchenko.

According to him, in addition to these directions, the Russian troops are trying to intensify its actions in other parts of the border operational zone.

He noted that despite heavy losses, the Russian command continues to throw its troops into so-called “meat grinder” assaults, disregarding human lives.

“The enemy’s sabotage activities also persist, especially within the Sumy region — closer to the Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions. Daily shelling continues in Sumy, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions. The enemy continues to use unmanned aerial vehicles, FPV drones, fiber-optic controlled drones, and also uses aviation — especially in the Sumy direction,” Demchenko added.
