The highest priority for the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine is our warriors, their lives, safety and dignity. These are the principles Ukraine is building on when developing a new philosophy of attitude towards the military.

Rustem Umerov, Minister of Defense of Ukraine, stated that at the Yalta European Strategy (YES) Annual Meeting The Future is Being Decided in Ukraine, organised by YES in partnership with the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.

“The highest priority for us today is our warriors, their lives, safety and dignity. We need to start a new philosophy of attitude towards the military and do everything possible and even impossible to ensure that our warriors are provided with everything necessary – weapons, tools, uniforms, food, protective equipment, medical care, education, training and all the rest,” said the Minister of Defence.

Rustem Umerov announced the large-scale digitization of processes in the ministry, and the setup of a new military ombudsman.

According to him, Ukraine's Defence Forces count one million servicemen, of which some 800,000 serve in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“Our army today is one of the biggest, strongest and most motivated in the world, because we know what we fight for – our people, our homes, our freedom. The Ukrainian warriors sacrifice their lives for the values of freedom,” emphasized Rustem Umerov.
