On April 22, in Washington, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The parties discussed Ukraine's support in the war against russia.

Denys Shmyhal stressed that sanctions, finances and weapons are key components of Ukraine's victory, and the level of US assistance in these matters is difficult to overestimate.

"Ukraine needs modern weapons to protect our people. Our army has shown a high level of professionalism, including through training with European and American colleagues in recent years. That is why it is also necessary to continue this good tradition," the Prime Minister stressed.

During the meeting, the parties coordinated positions on sanctions against russia. In particular, the need to give a decent response to russia's blockade of Ukrainian ports and the aggressor country's intentions to create a food crisis in the world were stressed.

"We call on our Western allies to disconnect absolutely all russian banks from SWIFT, as well as to recognize russia as a sponsor of terrorism. This will be a powerful political signal for the whole world," said the Head of the Ukrainian Government.

Apart from that, Denys Shmyhal expressed hope that the United States will diplomatically and economically contribute to the realization of Ukraine's European perspective and our country's accession to the EU.
