Serbia ready to transport more Russian gas to Hungary in case of non-extension of transit agreement between Ukraine and Russia.

This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, according to Ukrinform.

"We recently learned that Ukraine intends to terminate the previously concluded transit agreement with Russia. Today, the President of Serbia made it clear that Serbia is ready to ensure the necessary transit volume if Hungary wants to increase the purchase of natural gas transported through Serbia to Hungary," the minister said.

He added that President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, personally conveyed this commitment to the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, during a meeting in Budapest.

Currently, Hungary receives about 80% of its natural gas from Russia. Most of it is imported through the "TurkStream" pipeline, which passes through the territory of Serbia
