A Ukrainian soldier set a world record for the longest combat sniper shot.

The shot was confirmed at the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Special Operations Forces officer Aleks Tumanov said on his Facebook page. The shot was fired by an officer of the 73rd Naval Center of the Special Forces named after the ataman Antin Golovaty.

According to him, a Canadian WALI shot at 3,540 meters in Iraq was considered the longest distance record.

“However! This year, in his interview for the Bombardier channel, he said that this record is a myth that his command came up with. In fact, another sniper, who was much closer, eliminated the target. Therefore! A Ukrainian sniper fired at a distance of 2710 meters, with which he eliminated the occupier, should be considered a world record for the longest combat sniper shot," Tumanov wrote.

The record holder's name is promised to be announced after the victory. It is noted that the shot was fired from a McMillan TAC-50 is a long-range anti-materiel rifle.

"The target was the enemy's firing positions, which were constantly shelling peaceful settlements and positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The shot was fired from a distance of 2710 meters at two opponents who were firing at the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. All the slightest factors of weather conditions and terrain were taken into account. The wind was about 1 m/s. After adjusting the first shot, the next shot was fired at the target. The initial speed was 836 m/s," the officer added.
