Sweden is preparing a new package of military assistance for Ukraine, which will primarily include ammunition and spare parts for previously provided armored vehicles. This was announced on Tuesday on the official website of the Swedish government.

The total value of this tranche of defense assistance amounts to approximately 3.4 billion Swedish kronor, or nearly 314 million US dollars.

This marks the 13th package of military assistance to Ukraine from Sweden since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion.

"The government has decided on a new package of support for Ukraine. The assistance includes ammunition and spare parts for several technical systems that Sweden previously transferred to Ukraine," the press release stated.

This concerns spare parts and ammunition for infantry combat vehicles CV9040C (Stridsfordon 90) and tanks Stridsvagn 122, which is the Swedish version of the German Leopard 2A5 tank.

Sweden is also providing transport vehicles, emergency rescue equipment, and demining equipment.

The Swedish parliament has also authorized the government to sell "air-to-air" missiles Jaktrobot Rb 99 to the United States in 2023. In return, the United States will gift these missiles to Ukraine and offer Sweden a more modern version of air-to-air missiles of the same class. The medium-range "air-to-air" missile with radar guidance, Rb 99, is a licensed version of the American AIM-120B (AMRAAM) missile with a launch range of up to 70 kilometers, which were previously manufactured in Sweden. These missiles are equipped on Swedish multi-role fighter aircraft JAS 39 Gripen. It is likely that these missiles will be used in the NASAMS air defense systems, which are in service with the Ukrainian Air Force.

After the delivery of the 13th tranche of assistance, the total value of military support provided by Sweden to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion will exceed 20 billion Swedish kronor (over 1.8 billion US dollars).
