In Switzerland, over the past two months, gas consumption has fallen by about 20 percent.

In an interview with the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, "the government's manager for the energy crisis", said Bastian Schwark.

"Companies reacted to the high gas price," Schwark said, explaining that the high prices caused the industry to halt certain processes because they were becoming too expensive.

According to him, the situation with gas is now more tense than with electricity.

Switzerland receives about 70% of its gas from Germany, which has also reduced its electricity consumption.

Earlier, the Swiss government decided that public buildings would be heated to a temperature no higher than 20 degrees to save energy.

In addition, in Switzerland, fines and imprisonment are offered for violation of heating rules in winter.
