On Tuesday, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Vatican, Andriy Yurash, invited Pope Francis to Bucha, near Kyiv, to see the place of Russia's war crimes with his own eyes.
He said in an interview with ANSA.
Yurash said the pope's visit is still being discussed, but Ukrainian authorities expect the pope "to go to the place where the innocent victims killed by the Russian army lie in Buch, just 15 km from Kyiv, where about 1,400 victims were found."
According to him, "the Ukrainian side will certainly suggest that the pontiff come" to see evidence of war crimes.
Yurash said that Kyiv would like Francis to pray at the graves of innocent victims of the Russian military.
Earlier it was reported that President Volodymyr Zelensky had a telephone conversation with Pope Francis and told him about the crimes committed by the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
