The Coalition of Armored Technology in Support of Ukraine was inaugurated in Warsaw on Tuesday, March 26, as reported on the website of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
"During the first meeting, representatives of participating countries formulated a consolidated position regarding the reinforcement of the technical fleet of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with certain armored vehicle models and the organization of their repair system," the statement reads.
The initiative was proposed by Poland and Germany and gained the support of the United Kingdom, Sweden, and Italy.
"The Coalition of Armored Technology aims to strengthen the armored shield of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, jointly enhance our army's capabilities in combating the Russian aggressor, ensure the effective functioning, technical servicing, repair of equipment models provided to us by allies," said Deputy Minister of Defense Ivan Havryliuk, who heads the Ukrainian delegation.
Within the framework of the Coalition of Armored Technology, four syndicates have been created, with a representative from Ukraine assigned to each. Each syndicate has specific tasks: supplying arms and ammunition for Western armored vehicles; their technical servicing and repair; training crews and technical personnel; developing effective tactics for using armored vehicles on the battlefield.
"This is a very important initiative of our allies given the existing issues in the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the repair of foreign armored vehicles. I hope that with the help of allies, we will be able to quickly, as much as possible, establish an effective repair base for Western armored vehicles in Ukraine," said the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
According to Havryliuk, within the framework of the new coalition, a corresponding roadmap will be developed that aligns with the development strategy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It is envisaged that in the long term, the participating countries of the tank and armored technology coalitions will assist in creating the future armored fleet of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and establish innovative industrial partnership with Ukraine.
