The European Council has extended until July 27, 2025, restrictive measures due to Iran's military support for Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine and armed groups and entities in the Middle East and the Red Sea region.

Currently, the sanctions regime applies to 12 individuals and nine organizations. Assets of these individuals are frozen, and providing funds or economic resources to them, directly or indirectly, is prohibited. Additionally, these individuals are banned from traveling to the EU.
EU Sanctions In its conclusions on March 21 and 22, 2024, the European Council called on third parties, including Iran, to immediately cease providing material support to Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine.
In its conclusions on April 17 and 18, 2024, the European Council reaffirmed its commitment to further restrictive measures against Iran, particularly regarding drones and missiles. Finally, the European Council confirmed that the EU remains fully committed to promoting de-escalation and security in the region.
On May 14, 2024, the Council expanded the scope of EU restrictive measures related to Iran's military support for Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine, including drones, missiles, and support for Iranian drone and missile programs by armed groups and entities in the Middle East and the Red Sea region.
