Journalists from the Dnipro-based media organization KUST have created Ukraine's first interactive map of assistance for women. The project team conducted an analysis of organizations from all regions that focus on providing assistance to women, contacted their representatives, and compiled all the information into a convenient interactive map.
"With this map, we aim to support every woman who doesn't know where to seek help and organizations that continue their diligent work every day," as stated on the project's website.
This map compiles various organizations, projects, and initiatives that offer assistance to women. They vary in levels, from charitable and volunteer organizations to city-level initiatives. The assistance provided covers a range of areas, including clothing, hygiene products, workshops, training, mentoring, psychological counseling, legal advice, and more.
As of now, the map features 73 markers across all regions of Ukraine, excluding temporarily occupied territories. Organizations that provide assistance across the entire territory of Ukraine have a marker in Kyiv. Additionally, shelters located in the western part of Ukraine typically accept people from all regions.
Nearly all of these organizations provide assistance to women in difficult situations, including those with many children, internally displaced persons (IDPs), victims of gender-based violence, and the homeless. There are also specific organizations that offer support to the LGBTQI+ community, women with active lifestyles, servicewomen, teenagers, and youth. Some organizations have a medical focus, catering to people with disabilities or supporting women with HIV.
The map will be continuously updated. If you know of any organizations or initiatives that can be added, you can email them at [email protected]
