48 journalists died while performing work tasks in 2022.


The Heorhiy Gongadze Award and Ukrainian PEN created the Requiem Memorial Platform for journalists who died due to Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.

The platform collected information about 48 journalists who died after the start of the full-scale invasion.

Among them are the stories of eight Ukrainian and foreign media persons killed while performing journalistic tasks: photojournalist Max Levin, Fox News cameraman Pierre Zakshevsky, Time employee Brent Reno, French BFM TV journalist Frederic Leclerc, and Lithuanian director Mantas Kvedaravicius, who was shot by the Russian military under during the filming of the documentary in Mariupol.

The stories of those who died due to shelling at the hands of the Russian army in occupied cities and the front are also posted.
