The humanitarian initiative Grain From Ukraine will shift to a new format — Food from Ukraine, which will involve exporting technologies to African countries and building mutually beneficial partnerships.
Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko announced this during the opening of the 4th International Summit on Food Security, “Food from Ukraine.”
“Today, Grain From Ukraine, the initiative well known to you, is transitioning into a new, higher-quality format — Food from Ukraine. This is our strategic course. We are moving away from being a raw-material exporter toward becoming a country that produces world-class food products, ensures the stability of international markets, and helps those who need this support the most. Food from Ukraine means exporting approaches, technologies, and building partnerships that help Africa feed itself and develop. We are shifting from providing humanitarian aid to a model of mutually beneficial development,” she said.
Svyrydenko recalled that the President of Ukraine’s initiative Grain From Ukraine (“Grain from Ukraine”) was launched immediately after the start of the full-scale invasion. According to her, since the beginning of the war, Ukraine has exported 66 million tonnes of food to countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
“We delivered food even when our ports were under attack, when ports were blocked, when terminals and warehouses were destroyed, when Russian missiles targeted farmers in their fields. And this is our conscious choice. Ukraine is a state forced to defend itself, but even in such times we are ready to help others — those who truly need this support,” she emphasized.
The Prime Minister noted that this humanitarian initiative has helped provide food to more than 20 million vulnerable people in Africa and the Middle East.
