The other day, on the initiative of the AZfront telegram channel, an unprecedented act of united democratic forces began in the Iranian region of South Azerbaijan. The movement of eight youth organizations was a serious step towards destabilization within Iran. For the first time, the region's youth acted as a united front and, literally under the noses of the representatives of the Iranian authorities and law enforcement officers, posted postcards calling for the region's independence. It is reported by Telegraph.
Numerous postcards appeared on the campus of the University of Tebrizh and in the surrounding areas calling for the independence of South Azerbaijan. Eight organizations: National Liberation Front of South Azerbaijan; Azerbaijan State Resistance Organization; Azerbaijan student movement; South Azerbaijan Independence Party; Democratic Turkic Union of South Azerbaijan; Democratic Party of South Azerbaijan; The Liberal Democratic Party of South Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan Center Party took part in the independence action.
This is an unprecedented challenge to the Iranian authorities. After all, despite the real hunting of the paramilitary group "Basij" and employees of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps for participants in the movement, not a single participant in the action was caught or even noticed by the authorities.
Such political activity in Iran, of course, coincides with the foreign policy interests of Ukraine, since Iran is the leading military partner of Putin's Russia and a significant donor of weapons and equipment for its army.
It should be noted that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky at a meeting with Israeli Foreign Minister Cohen on February 16 in Kyiv, said that both countries have a common enemy - Iran. The parties agreed to deepen cooperation in the fight against Iran in the international arena. Actually, Iran has a long history of unfriendly policy towards Ukraine, which began with the downing of a commercial UIA Boeing 737 aircraft over Tehran on January 8, 2020 by an Iranian missile. Then 176 people died.
The resistance of representatives of the Iranian authorities is quite natural. After all, the possible acquisition of independence by South Azerbaijan, with its capital in Tabriz, can lead to the disintegration of Iran as a state. Branches of the region with 30 million ethnic Azerbaijanis, who make up approximately 20% of the country's total population, if not destroyed, then significantly weaken Iran.
