The Defence Materiel Agency under the Ministry of National Defence is acquiring 5 duty trucks Renault D from French manufacturer Renault Truck SAS as the Lithuanian Armed Forces is further modernized and strengthened logistically.
This information was reported by the Ministry of National Defense of Lithuania.
The new purchase will be used in supply and training tasks of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, part of it will also be used as support to Ukraine in the currently formed demining coalition.
Renault D are four wheel drive, enhanced cross-country feature 5 ton payload trucks for transporting various loads and equipment. The acquisition contract value amounts up to approx. EUR 16 million.
In 2024, modernization of the Lithuanian Armed Forces is expected to be carried out with nearly EUR 1 billion, or 45% of defence budget. The planned weaponry and equipment procurements will significantly increase its combat power, force protection, land maneuver, air defence and logistical capacity.
