Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Economy Andriy Teliupa and UNIDO Deputy Director-General Yuko Yasunaga discussed the implementation of a large-scale Ukrainian-Japanese project, with a budget of $188 million, aimed at the green recovery of Ukraine's industry.

"UNIDO's efforts to promote green industrial recovery in Ukraine open new opportunities for Ukrainian businesses. This initiative will provide access to advanced Japanese technologies and innovative solutions, enabling the modernization of production and improving the competitiveness of Ukraine's industry on the global market," said Andriy Teliupa.

During the first phase of the project, which took place from June to August 2024, a significant number of technological proposals from Japanese companies were identified for further feasibility studies. These proposals cover areas such as renewable energy, circular economy, agribusiness, water infrastructure, and digital technologies.

"This project reflects UNIDO's commitment to innovation and resilience through international partnerships. By combining Japanese experience with Ukraine's industrial potential, we are promoting technological progress, capacity development, knowledge exchange, job creation, and attracting investment. These efforts are key to laying the foundation for sustainable industrial recovery and long-term economic growth in Ukraine," emphasized Yuko Yasunaga.

To further develop the project, the Ministry of Economy conducted a survey of Ukrainian businesses. The results were incorporated into the announcement of a call for project proposals from Japanese companies, which began on November 28 and will run until January 31, 2025.

The project is being implemented with the support of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry. It is part of UNIDO's Green Industrial Recovery Program for Ukraine for the years 2024-2028, focusing on key sectors such as renewable energy, industrial decarbonization, green hydrogen development, circular economy, efficient production, digital transformation, and the modernization of enterprises, as well as the development of the agribusiness sector.
