The President of Estonia, Alar Karis, has initiated the convening of a meeting of the National Defense Council on Monday, January 8, where the recent events related to Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine will be discussed. ERR reports on this.
During the meeting of Estonia's National Defense Council, it is expected that they will discuss Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, Estonia's actions in support of Ukraine, as well as the security of Estonian borders.
The National Defense Council is an advisory body to the President of Estonia. Its members include the Speaker of the Parliament, the Prime Minister, the heads of parliamentary committees on defense and foreign affairs, the leaders of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defense, Interior, Justice, and Economy, as well as the Commander of the Estonian Defense Forces.
The Council discusses and draws conclusions on matters crucial for national defense, as explained by ERR.
