Russia currently represents the most significant and direct threat to European security and NATO allies.
This statement was made by the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, as reported by Äeské noviny.
According to him, the regime of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin openly declares that it is fighting against the "collective West." In Pavel's opinion, Russian imperial ambitions would have no boundaries if these boundaries were not established.
"If allowed, Russia will unquestionably annex regions of the former Eastern Bloc," he noted.
The Eastern Bloc is a term used in the West in the second half of the 20th century to refer to pro-Soviet states in Central and Eastern Europe. In Europe, the Eastern Bloc was represented by Albania (until 1961), Bulgaria, Hungary, the GDR, Poland, Romania, and Czechoslovakia.
