Latvian Prime Minister Evika SiliÅa stated that Russia remains the main threat to the Northern European region.
She made this statement in Sweden during a meeting of the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF), as reported by Delfi.
Evika SiliÅa emphasized the need to find solutions that would limit Russian aggression and geopolitics.
She mentioned that the security situation in the region is changing, and although new countries are joining NATO, strengthening the alliance, Latvia still faces challenges, such as potential sabotage against infrastructure or Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko's hybrid warfare with the smuggling of illegal immigrants across Latvia's border.
She emphasized that JEF serves as a platform to address these issues and coordinate support provided by countries to Ukraine.
The Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) is a multinational expeditionary force created in 2015 by the United Kingdom, encompassing military states in the Baltic and Northern European regions, including Iceland and the Netherlands.
