Security forces arrested the organizers of an illegal scheme for transporting men of military age across the border with Moldova.
Two businessmen from the Odessa region made a deal with several border guards who controlled the border section with Moldova. Entrepreneurs brought men to a designated place, and border guards let these people cross the border outside the checkpoint.
The group members charged 5,000 US dollars per person for illegal transportation.
The employees of the SBI detained the group members "on the spot"; the investigation is currently ongoing.
The issue of notification of suspicion to group members under the article illegal transportation of persons across the state border (Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) is being resolved.
The sanction of the article provides for a penalty of up to 9 years of imprisonment.
Procedural management is carried out by the Odessa Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the military and defense sphere.
The State Bureau of Investigation continues its systematic work to eliminate illegal channels for transporting Ukrainian citizens of draft age abroad. All officials who undermine the state's defense capability during martial law will be prosecuted.
