The Security Service of Ukraine conducted a large-scale special operation, neutralizing the extensive FSB intelligence network.
Thus, in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odessa, Zaporizhia, and Dnipropetrovsk and Vinnytsia regions, 19 enemy agents were detained.
The detainees corrected the rocket attacks on Ukrainian cities and reconnoitered the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as collect information on the places where Russian prisoners were being held.
In addition, they collected data on members of the national resistance who are underground to oppose the invaders in the temporarily occupied territories of southern Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the enemy group was led by an FSB agent in one of the districts of the Kherson region. He passed the intelligence received from informants to representatives of the Russian secret services, including an adviser to the so-called "Crimean mayor" Aksonov.
Thanks to the SBU's prompt response, it was possible to prevent numerous missile and bomb strikes on civilian infrastructure and Ukrainian housing.
It was established that the intelligence network was formed by two FSB personnel to conduct reconnaissance and sabotage activities against our state. The group consisted of residents from different regions.
The information was transmitted through "liaison officers" who were in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region. Closed Telegram channels were used for communication.
Among the information provided to the occupiers were electronic maps of the locations of crowds, critical infrastructure, and Ukrainian military units.
During more than 30 searches at the location of the enemy agency, law enforcement officers found:
- weapons,
- computer equipment and means of communication with evidence of crimes,
- pro-Kremlin propaganda materials.
The issue of notifying the perpetrators of the suspicion and choosing a measure of restraint in the form of detention is currently being resolved.
Within the criminal proceedings initiated by SBU investigators under Part 2 of Art. 111 (treason) of the Criminal code of Ukraine, pre-judicial investigation proceeds.
The perpetrators face up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment.
The special operation was conducted by officers of the Department for the Protection of National Statehood and the Main Investigation Department of the Security Service of Ukraine under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
