The Security Service of Ukraine and the Office of the Prosecutor General have announced the detention of the director of a factory in Dnipro that produces reinforcing products. This director was selling strategically important components for water supply systems of critical and military infrastructure to Russia.

According to the SSU and the Office of the Prosecutor General, individuals involved in this scheme secretly transported wholesale batches of pipeline fittings (disc gate valves) to the aggressor country. These fittings were primarily required by Russian customers to equip military bases and temporary deployment points of occupation groups on the territory of the Russian Federation and in temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine.

The announcement also mentioned that during 2022, the individuals involved in this illicit trade exported several consignments of reinforcing components to Russia worth more than UAH 2 million.

The individuals involved in this illicit activity included the director of a specialized enterprise in Dnipro and one of his subordinates.

After the start of the full-scale invasion, they remotely established contact with their customers in Russia and together devised a mechanism for the illegal export of sanctioned products to Russia, as reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.

To carry out this operation, the suspects engaged several controlled companies in the Middle East. These companies would purchase goods from the Dnipro plant, ostensibly for their own use. However, once they received the Ukrainian equipment, they would immediately transport it to Russia.

During searches at the production site and in the premises of the individuals involved, computers, mobile phones, accounting documents, and draft notes were discovered.

The Office of the Prosecutor General reported that the director of the enterprise and his accomplice have been served with a notice of suspicion for complicity with the state-aggressor under Part 1 of Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Among the main goods supplied to Russia were sets of disk locks "Ду1200," which were used in various construction projects, including hydroelectric facilities in Russia, according to the Office of the Prosecutor General (OGP).

Currently, the suspects have been placed in custody as a preventive measure. They could face up to 12 years in prison, with property confiscation as well.
