The Security Service conducted a multi-stage special operation in Kherson, during which a Russian FSB underground cell was neutralized. During the operational activities, all three members of the hostile group responsible for directing artillery and missile-bomb strikes on the city were detained.
It was based on their coordinates that, at the end of September this year, the occupiers completely destroyed two private residential houses in the regional center and damaged five more.
As a result of the enemy shelling, approximately 10 civilians sustained injuries of varying severity.
According to the investigation, the organizer and leader of the local anti-Ukrainian underground was a former entrepreneur who switched sides to the enemy after the city was captured.
He then found work as a "master" at the occupation's "Kherson Railway of the Russian Federation," where he conducted technical work to facilitate the movement of military equipment for the aggressor country.
While working for the occupiers, his activities came to the attention of the Russian FSB, which soon recruited him.
After the city was liberated, the traitor remained in hiding for a while, but later established remote communication with his "handler" from the temporarily occupied left bank of Kherson region and received assignments from him.
Following the aggressor's instructions, he formed his own group of informants, which included two pro-Russian residents of the regional center.
One of them had participated in staging news stories for the Kremlin's mouthpiece, "RIA Novosti," during the occupation of the city.
After the formation of the hostile group, its members began to identify the coordinates of densely populated areas and the residences of citizens in the territory of Kherson.
They also sought information about the main deployment points and movement routes of the Defense Forces in the city and its surroundings.
The obtained information was transmitted to the aggressor through anonymous messengers.
The reconnaissance information was needed by the occupiers to carry out mass strikes on the liberated city using rockets, guided aerial bombs, small arms artillery, and multiple rocket launch systems.
During the search at the places of residence of the detainees, binoculars, mobile phones, and computers used in their criminal activities were discovered. Additionally, pro-Kremlin symbols and Russian rubles received in exchange for cooperation with the occupiers were confiscated from the individuals involved.
