The Security Service of Ukraine, with the assistance of the Minister for Strategic Industries, uncovered another high-ranking "mole" working for the Russian Federation in Ukraine's government agencies. The Russian agent was a senior official at the State Space Agency who had access to secret information about domestic strategic enterprises and classified satellite images.
The SSU's counterintelligence and investigators apprehended the suspect during a meeting at the Ministry for Strategic Industries of Ukraine.
According to the case materials, the Russian FSB recruited this agent in 2024. Since then, the Ukrainian intelligence service has carefully documented each step of the offender's actions and his interactions with Russian handlers.
The SSU also used this "mole" to mislead the Russian forces by passing favorable information to Russia via him.
The investigation revealed that the agent was recruited by the FSB through his wife, who lives in Rostov-on-Don and collaborates with the occupiers. He agreed to cooperate with the Russia in exchange for money and planned to move to Russia after retiring in the summer of 2025.
Among the tasks assigned to the "mole" by the FSB were gathering and passing on secret information, including details about the locations of military-industrial complex facilities manufacturing navigation systems, backup points for strategic enterprises, military warehouses, and information on Ukraine's production of precision strike weapons and satellite images.
According to available data, the Russian intelligence service intended to use this information for airstrikes on strategically important targets in Ukraine.
During the search of the suspect, a mobile phone was seized containing anonymous chat logs in messengers and emails he used to communicate with the FSB.
Based on the collected evidence, the SSU investigators notified the agent of suspicion under Part 2, Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed during martial law).
The court is considering the choice of a preventive measure in the form of detention. The offender faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
