The Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Serhiy Dyneka, and the Swedish Minister for Civil Defense, Carl-Oskar Bohlin, discussed the exchange of experience and the enhancement of Ukraine's defense capabilities, particularly in strengthening maritime security.
The meeting took place at the special forces unit of the Border Guard Service, Dozor. Swedish Ambassador Martin Oberg also participated in the discussions. Minister Bohlin assured Ukraine of Sweden's ongoing support, pledging assistance for as long as needed.
Dyneka expressed gratitude to Sweden for its support in countering Russia's armed aggression, noting that, thanks to international backing, the Border Guard Service is evolving and rearming according to European Union and NATO standards. He emphasized that the service effectively protects Ukraine's borders and is an integral part of the nation's defense forces.
During the visit to the special forces unit, the Swedish delegation was shown how effectively Ukrainian border guards are using the assistance provided by Western partners to enhance security capabilities and address the challenges posed by Russia's invasion.
Colonel Maksym Balagura, Head of the 10th Mobile Border Guard Unit, briefed the guests on the specifics of special forces operations, highlighting the key challenges faced by border guards and presenting the technical equipment and tools used by the special forces.
