The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security of Italy have agreed to cooperate in the field of energy transition and renewable energy sources.
The document was signed by Svitlana Hrynchuk, Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine, and Vannia Gava, Deputy Minister of the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, at the UN Climate Change Conference COP28 in Dubai.
"The green transition and development of renewable energy are among the key objectives of the Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2050, which was presented by Energy Minister German Galushchenko. Deepening cooperation in these areas with our Italian partners is essential for Ukraine, and we are pleased to sign the relevant memorandum today," said Svitlana Hrynchuk.
The parties agreed to cooperate in the field of energy transition and renewable energy, in particular, during the post-war recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine aimed to achieve the goals of decarbonising the entire energy sector.
The memorandum envisages cooperation in the following areas of interest:
- Technology transfer and capacity building in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors;
- exchange of best practices and knowledge in the energy transition and innovative technologies in the decarbonisation process;
- accelerating the deployment and use of renewable hydrogen, clean biogas and biomethane;
- Strengthening public participation and sharing best practices in energy system management, including the revision of the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP).
