Today, with the participation of the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov and the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova Andriy Spina, the updated railway section Berezyne (Ukraine) - Basarabyaska (Moldova) was opened.

The restoration of traffic on the section took place within the framework of the work of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine to increase traffic capacity on the western borders of Ukraine with the EU states and Moldova.

"The restoration of this route has become vital against the backdrop of constant attacks on the bridge across the Dniester estuary by the Russian invaders. From now on, we have an alternative - the main railway route connecting Odessa and the Danube ports - "Reni," and "Izmail" is connected to the railway connection.

We expect that we will be able to reach an average of 10 million tons of cargo transportation in this area per year. I am grateful to our partners from Moldova and relevant ministries for their cooperation and work towards results.

Our joint projects are not only about transport, cargo, and passengers. We are moving towards EU membership together and building a common European infrastructure together.

And I have to note the excellent work of the Ukrainian railway workers, who implemented a large international turnkey project. After all, thanks to the efforts of our employees, the infrastructure was restored not only on the territory of Ukraine, but also on the territory of Moldova," commented the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Oleksandr Kubrakov.

The section Berezyne - Basarabyaska is single-track, and its length is 22 kilometers (almost 21 kilometers on the territory of Ukraine).

There has been no traffic on it since 1999.

We will remind you that on June 24 of this year, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the development of railway communication, which provides for the restoration of railway traffic on this section.
