Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine for European Integration, Serhii Boiev, discussed the details of strengthening cooperation in the defense industry with Brigadier General Johan Axelsson, a representative of the Swedish government agency FMV.

During the meeting, the parties talked over the recent visit of a delegation of Swedish defense companies to Ukraine and the development of joint ventures to produce critically important weaponry.

They mentioned the recently signed memorandum between the Ukrainian company Radionix and the Swedish defense and industrial group SAAB, highlighting the importance of such cooperation given the experience of both companies and their contributions to Ukraine’s defense capability.

“Ukrainian-Swedish relations in the defense sector are developing, and this is confirmation of our strategic partnership. Sweden is one of the leaders in supporting Ukraine, and we are glad to share our experience in return to develop joint projects,” emphasized Serhii Boiev.

The production of Swedish CV-90 infantry fighting vehicles, which have proven reliable on the battlefield, remains relevant. The parties agreed to work on setting up maintenance and repair of these armored vehicles in Ukraine.

Brigadier General Johan Axelsson stated that Sweden plans to allocate funding for exploring innovative defense solutions. He presented the Ukrainian side with a list of areas that could be developed. Serhii Boiev noted that Ukraine’s priorities include countering glide bombs (GABs) and intercepting enemy drones.

At the end of the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Defense once again thanked Sweden for the military support provided and the recently announced new aid package, which is the largest since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion. He noted that the Ukrainian side is working on a priority list for its utilization.
