Close cooperation between Turkey and Ukraine in the field of agriculture will ensure economic growth between both countries. The first step in this direction has been made – a Memorandum of Scientific, Technical, and Economic Cooperation has been signed between the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Vitalii Kovalev, and the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey, Ibrahim Yumakli.
During the meeting, the Head of the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, Serhii Tkachuk, talked about the role of the service in opening new markets and ensuring state guarantees regarding compliance with the requirements of partner countries.
"The last time we opened markets for Ukrainian products was two years ago. At the same time, we opened three positions for agricultural products. Currently, we are working on 9 more markets, including live fish for breeding, beef, pet food, and poultry meat products. Additionally, an important area is the import of Turkish products to Ukraine. We reviewed their proposals that Ukrainian consumers would be interested in. This includes dairy products. I am confident that today’s meeting is a step forward in increasing bilateral trade and exchange between our countries," emphasized the Head of the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.
The parties exchanged information on the development of national agricultural sectors and reviewed the current situation in the trade of agricultural products between the two countries.
According to Serhii Tkachuk, Ukraine has a successful case – the digitalization of phytosanitary processes. This refers to joining the international ePhyto system, a key feature of which is the presence of a QR code on quarantine certificates, phytosanitary certificates, and phytosanitary certificates for re-export. This way, the partner country can verify the authenticity of the document. This tool will facilitate the unhindered circulation of agricultural products on the global market, including to the Republic of Turkey.
