Ukraine is expelling some Iranian diplomats.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine decided to deprive the Iranian ambassador of accreditation and significantly reduce the number of diplomatic personnel of the Iranian embassy in Kyiv in response to the sale of unmanned attack vehicles to Russia.
This is stated in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine statement.
In particular, in pursuance of the instructions of President Volodymyr Zelensky to take urgent measures to respond to the facts of the use of Iranian-made weapons by the Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine, on September 23, the charge d'affaires of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Ukraine was summoned to the Foreign Ministry.
"The Iranian side was told that the supply of Iranian weapons to Russia for their subsequent use by Russian troops against the Ukrainian civilian population and the Defense Forces directly contradicts the position of neutrality, respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, publicly declared by the top leadership of Iran," the statement said.
It is noted that the supply of weapons to Russia to wage war against Ukraine is an unfriendly act that deals a severe blow to relations between the two countries.
"In response to such an unfriendly act, the Ukrainian side decided to deprive the Iranian ambassador in Ukraine of accreditation, as well as significantly reduce the number of diplomatic personnel of the Iranian embassy in Kyiv," the Foreign Ministry said.
