Ukraine, despite the war with the Russian Federation, will allocate humanitarian aid to Ethiopia and Somalia. The Cabinet of Ministers will send 50,000 tons of wheat to African countries.
This is stated in the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers dated September 16, 2022 No. 1040.
It is noted that grain, which is owned by the JSC "State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine", will be sent as humanitarian aid.
The companies will reimburse the cost of grain in the amount of UAH 420 million from the state budget reserve fund.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs still has to agree with the UN on the delivery and payment issue for the transportation of goods from the Odessa Sea Commercial Port to these countries at the expense of international organizations.
On September 16, the head of the UN World Food Program, David Beasley, said that 70 million people in 82 countries could die of starvation due to the war in Ukraine.
