The Governments of Ukraine and Japan have inked an agreement providing for a grant to purchase special equipment for Ukrainian hospitals to the tune of 300 million Japanese Yen, or USD 2.61 million, which will be used to purchase medical and related equipment for Ukraine.
This grant will improve the material and technical base of medical institutions in our country.
"Every day we see how the whole civilized world supports Ukraine and our medical sphere. Due to the war, Ukraine lost not only a significant part of its medical facilities, but also the necessary equipment and materials. Therefore, the efforts of the Ministry of Health and our partners are aimed at restoring the capacity of the medical system so that patients in different parts of the country are provided with quality medical services," said Deputy Minister of Health Oleksii Yaremenko.
Ukraine plans to purchase endoscopes and related equipment for a grant from the Japanese government. Another part of the funds will be used to train medical staff.
It will be recalled that on April 15, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a draft agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of Japan which envisages agreements and main directions of attracting a loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency to implement a joint project with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development of the second project "Second Loan for Development Policy in the Field of Economic Recovery".
