As part of the INTERFLEX operation initiated by the Government of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, the training of Ukrainian military personnel continues. As of today, the United Kingdom has trained and equipped 33,000 Ukrainian soldiers with the necessary equipment.
This information comes from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,.
The United Kingdom and its partner countries have been conducting this basic infantry training since June 2022.
"The training takes place at the training and material base facilities of the Ministry of Defence of the United Kingdom in the northwest, southwest, and southeast of the United Kingdom. Each training course lasts about five weeks and is conducted under the guidance of the Ground Forces of the UK," the statement reads.
This training provides new volunteers with little or no military experience with the skills needed for effective combat operations on the front lines. Based on the basic training of soldiers in the United Kingdom, the course covers weapon handling, first aid on the battlefield, field equipment, patrol tactics, and the law of armed conflicts, among other things.
The United Kingdom government promptly procured AK rifles for the training program, meaning that Ukrainian soldiers are practicing with weapons they will use on the front lines. The United Kingdom has also provided clothing and equipment to support Ukrainian soldiers in their training and upon their return to Ukraine.
