Cadets from the Naval Institute of the National University Odesa Maritime Academy have started their training on the Polish Navy's training ship ORP Wodnik.

This was reported by the institute's press service.

The Ukrainian cadets are undergoing maritime practice alongside their Polish colleagues.

During the training, they are acquiring skills in navigation, astronavigation, hydrometeorology, and maneuvering, as well as familiarizing themselves with the organization of ship service. Additionally, the cadets are getting to know the ship's main technical means and improving their English language proficiency.

The cadets are also practicing other maritime preparation skills.

The training ship ORP Wodnik, owned by the Naval Academy of the Republic of Poland, is designed for long voyages and training cruises.

The ship is just over 72 meters long, nearly 12 meters wide, and has a draft of 4.2 meters. It can reach speeds of up to 17 knots and has a cruising autonomy of 30 days.

Thousands of cadets from the Naval Academy and the Senior NCO School of the Polish Navy have trained on this ship.

The Naval Institute noted that the ORP Wodnik participated in Operation Desert Storm as a hospital ship in the waters of the Persian Gulf in 1991.
