Since the beginning of the war, Ukrzaliznytsia has evacuated half a million people abroad. Most passengers went to Poland. The company is also already recording an increase in demand for return flights.
Thus, from April 1 to 9, 4,000 people returned to Ukraine by rail from Poland by train, while from April 10 to 18, 50% more - 6,000 passengers. At the same time, 10,000 passengers traveled in the opposite direction during these periods.
In addition to Poland, Ukrainians traveled to Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic to protect themselves and their families. Currently, Ukrzaliznytsia offers flights to PrzemyÅl, Warsaw, CheÅm, Budapest, ZachonÄ and KoÅ¡ice, Vienna and Isaccea.
It will be recalled that the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has extended the possibility of crossing the border with an internal passport of a citizen of Ukraine.
After the end of hostilities, Ukrzaliznytsia organizes routes to return Ukrainians to their homes.
It will be recalled that most EU railway administrations have introduced free travel for Ukrainians by their own trains. This applies to children under the age of 18, women, men over the age of 60, and men between 18 and 60 with disabilities.
