President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban in Kyiv. His visit took place immediately after Hungary assumed the EU presidency.

"This is a clear testimony to our common European priorities. How important it is to restore fair peace to Ukraine and all of Europe, resolve existing difficulties, and provide new foundations for strengthening Europe, economic and social growth," emphasized the President.

Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Hungary for its support of Ukrainians and humanitarian aid to our country. He also noted Hungary's participation in the first Peace Summit and support for the final communique.

"We discussed specifically how Hungary can further demonstrate its leadership in preparing for the second Peace Summit. We see the possibility of organizing the second Peace Summit later this year, which we would very much like, and we can do all the preparatory work for this in the coming months," the Head of State stressed.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed cooperation at the EU level and expectations from Hungary's presidency. They paid particular attention to the most critical issues in neighboring relations: trade, cross-border cooperation, infrastructure, and energy issues. They agreed on the opening of the first Ukrainian school in Hungary.

"The financing of this school will be taken up by the Hungarian state. As many Ukrainian schools will be opened as needed. It is important for us that Ukrainians feel at home in Hungary," Viktor Orban emphasized.

He also expressed hope for the resolution of issues concerning the Hungarian national minority and noted all initiatives by the President of Ukraine aimed at achieving peace. The Prime Minister thanked Volodymyr Zelensky for his straightforward position and assured him of Hungary's support.

"I wish Ukraine all the best, and during Hungary's presidency, we will assist you in every way we can," he said. Viktor Orban named the purpose of his visit to resolve bilateral relations issues. He emphasized Hungary's desire to normalize and in the future, sign a bilateral agreement.

"The content of our dialogue can serve as the basis for a future bilateral document between our countries that will regulate all our interactions and can be based on a mirrored approach to bilateral relations. Our teams will continue to work on the details of joint decisions," concluded the President of Ukraine.
